description

The OFSVs built at the Seaspan shipyard in Vancouver are the first large vessels delivered to the Canadian Coast Guard under the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

The three new OFSVs will be the primary platform for Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Canadian Coast Guard scientists to conduct important research. This work includes monitoring the health of fish stocks, better understanding the impact of climate change on the environment, and supporting research to better protect the oceans.

While primarily focused on science and research, the new OFSVs will also have the capability to support search and rescue missions and, if required, environmental operations and response.

Products and services provided

  • Switchboards (600/230/120 V)
  • Power management systems (PMS)
  • Motor control centres
  • Alarm and monitoring systems
  • Consoles

Benefits

OFSV was a complex program using the most advanced technologies, which required rigorous document management and efficient coordination. Techsol demonstrated its ability to design and build state-of-the-art solutions for Canadian Coast Guard research ships.
